This is the Last Post

I'm replacing the blog with a newsletter that will be sent out once a month, far more frequently than I actually log into Blogger. The studio has LOTS going on this year and I feel a newsletter is a much better way to keep you informed. Head over here and sign up to receive our newsletter. If you are already on the newsletter list, you'll want to resubscribe as we are using a new, far more awesome system. Thanks and hope to keep in touch! Bedouin Star www.bedouinstar.com

Aladdin, Drum Workshop, and Now, The Spectacular

Aladdin
The Beveridge Middle School production of Aladdin was AWESOME! The dancers we worked with did a FANTASTIC job. They learned the choreography we taught them and rehearsed with us for about an hour and a half a week for a few weeks, a little over a month. Very proud of them!

Drum Workshop
Alex's drum workshop was uber cool! A great turnout and loads of fun. Looking forward to the drum circle on April 2nd, 7pm!

The Spectacular
Really looking forward to the Nebraska Belly Dance Spectacular this Saturday!

Choreographer for a Middle School Play

Today was my first day on the job. I am to choreograph the opening dance for a local middle school production. Baccia and I arrived early, met the dancers, and began instructing the first part of the dance. I barked commands and Baccia demonstrated the moves.

The girls caught on quickly. It's going to be a very nice opening number. In addition to choreography, I am also a "Costuming Consultant." I get o play with fabric!

Looking forward to it!

Masani Azura and Siham Ali workshop hosted by Della Gushen

IT WAS AWESOME!

Masani and Siham always deliver power packed workshops. Today was no different.

First, Siham taught a short cane choreography. Though short, it included several extremely challenging moves. Invigorating! Masani followed up with a zill and drum dance. Masani must know every zill pattern there is!

After the workshops, the space was transformed for the hafla. Tables and chairs were brought out and some mood setting decorations were placed about the stage area. Lite appetizers (pita bread, crackers, etc.) were served while performers changed into their costumes. A few numbers and dinner was served! Salad, Greek pizza (Della’s famous Greek pizza!), fresh fruit, rice pilaf, etc…

Ladies from at least 3 states performed in the hafla. There was also open dancing to live drumming. That had to be the best part. There is not much more awesome than dancing to drumming.

In conclusion, I am already looking forward to the next event!
Thank You, Della, Masani, and Siham! =D
